Behavioral shadowing

Behavioral Shadowing offers more than just helping your child/adolescent excel in academics.

Some children and adolescents may experience communication difficulties, socialization difficulties, fine/gross motor deficits, and/or problems focusing.  Such deficits may lead to inappropriate behaviors that can become a concern in the academic environment. Behavioral Shadowing can offer an alternative solution to increasing your child's attention span and concentration by replacing inappropriate behaviors with more socially acceptable behaviors.

At Positive Horizons, our main goal in Behavioral Shadowing is to help your child or adolescent transition to becoming more independent by learning social skills, coping strategies, and healthier habits.  Our Interventionists and Specialists will work one-on-one with your child or adolescent to help build the age-appropriate skills that are essential in their surrounding environments. Since most children and adolescents typically learn modeled behavior from peers at school, our Interventionists focus on enabling successful communication and social interactions with their peers.

Areas of focus include:

  • Building self-esteem and self-confidence * Initiating and maintaining social interactions * Self-efficacy * Critical thinking strategies
